Wartime post from Ireland, hidden in Gone with the Wind

By the Editors · As reported by CHEK News, 29 January 2019

FoundVancouver, Canada

Tucked inside Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

Reunited — it went back to its owner or their family.

David Eden of Vancouver opened a secondhand copy of Gone with the Wind and found letters and postcards from the Second World War, all addressed to a Victoria woman named Elizabeth Owen. He guessed at a romance, but the cards came from her sister Wilhelmina, known as Aunt Mina, who had returned to Ireland after the two emigrated together in 1907. After a TV report, a Saanich police officer worked through old records and found Elizabeth’s grandchildren, who welcomed the correspondence into the family archive.
