“Every crease is a story.”
The Catalogue
Every book in the world is findable here. These shelves are a good place to start.
Anything else turns up from Open Library the moment you search for it.
Start with an author, title or genre that interests you, then open a book page to read its description and inspect the available editions. Use ratings as one piece of context; a small number of ratings is not a reliable comparison with a much larger readership.
A catalogue work can include several editions, formats and translations. Their page counts, introductions and wording may differ. For a book club, class or collecting purchase, compare the exact publisher, translator and ISBN before ordering.
Signed-in readers can save books to their shelves and record their reading. If you are searching for a particular secondhand copy, Hunt List lets you specify the edition, condition and price you are looking for.
