Love notes, a leaf and “the squirrel can type!!!” in Oakland's returns

By the Editors · As reported by The Washington Post (via The Spokesman-Review), 3 August 2022

FoundOakland, United States2022

Since 2013, Oakland Public Library librarian Sharon McKellar has scanned what readers leave in returned books — with personal details removed — for a page called Found in a Library Book. Among them: a handwritten “Learning to cook” list, a to-do list that includes “buy hay”, a sticky note announcing that the squirrel can type, children's drawings, a real leaf in a children's book about leaves, and a love note thanking someone for breaking the writer's heart and setting them free.
