When Nick Cave gave about 2,000 books from his own library to the Oxfam bookshop in Hove, East Sussex, in the summer of 2025, fans queued to buy them. The books had been part of a touring installation about his working process. Buyers found his underlinings, plane tickets, notes in his handwriting and empty cigarette packets between the pages. Staff called the response absolutely mad.
