Jewellery and a 1930 pocket watch inside a fake book

By the Editors · As reported by CBS Chicago, 10 May 2017

Volunteers at Books Down Under, the Wilmette Public Library's donation shop, opened what looked like an ordinary donated book. It was a hollow box holding rings, bracelets, a necklace, coins, a D.A.R. medal, a handwritten card and a pocket watch engraved as a 1930 presentation from employees of the Department of Agriculture to a C.F. Buck. The Friends of the library set out to find the owner and asked anyone who recognised the keepsakes to come forward.
