Eleven $100 bills in a ten-cent paperback

By the Editors · As reported by Peninsula Daily News, 30 March 2006

FoundSequim, Washington, United States

Reunited — it went back to its owner or their family.

At an estate sale near Sequim, Washington, collectibles dealer Carol Johnson bought a paperback for ten cents and found eleven $100 bills inside. She walked straight over to Joe Smith, who was running the sale to pay for his mother’s dementia care, and handed the money back. Smith remembered his mother having the $1,100 and had wondered where it had gone. He thanked Johnson with a pair of wooden chairs for her shop.
