‘Believe, Trent’ falls out of a $2 Carson McCullers
By the Editors · As reported by Upworthy, 30 April 2023
Shopping at a Goodwill in Gilbert, Arizona, Rose Farmer picked up a half-price copy of The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter, and a handwritten note dropped to the floor. Written on stationery from a hotel in Monterey, California, it was a father’s pep talk to his son Trent, telling him he was loved and respected and that the road might be bumpy. Farmer posted it to a local Facebook group hoping to find Trent. Many readers said the message moved them, but the owner had not been found when the story ran.
