Retired postal worker Kathleen Palm was leafing through an old hardcover cookbook at the Paws and Claws Thrift Store in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, when she found an airmail letter postmarked 1966 and took it to the manager, Val Sutter. It described ordinary family life and mentioned Val and her brother. The siblings read it together and felt it was telling them to stay close.
