Reunited — it went back to its owner or their family.
About fifteen years before, Victoria Johnson bought a book at the Strand in Manhattan and a photograph fell out: a Black family from the 1960s, a father, mother and two daughters. In 2021 she posted it on Twitter, where it was shared thousands of times. A relative recognized his great-uncle Sheldon, and the story reached Valerie Sudduth, the younger girl in the picture. The photo had been taken at the Sudduths’ home in Topeka, Kansas, and Johnson mailed it to her.
